1. Information We Collect

When you create an account on Binge, we collect:

• Email address and display name
• Profile photo (if uploaded)
• Age range and country (provided during onboarding)
• Viewing preferences and vibe quiz answers
• Posts, ratings, reviews, and watchlist data you create
• Group memberships and social connections (follows)

2. Authentication

We use Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in. You may authenticate with Google, Apple, or email/password. We do not store your password directly; it is managed securely by Firebase Authentication.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the Binge experience
• To personalize content recommendations
• To display your profile to other users
• To power AI-based vibe search (see Section 5)

4. Third-Party Services

TMDB (The Movie Database): We use the TMDB API to retrieve movie and TV show metadata (titles, posters, descriptions). No personal user data is sent to TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for authentication, data storage (Firestore), and file storage (profile photos). Data is stored securely on Google Cloud infrastructure.

5. AI-Powered Features

Our vibe search feature uses OpenAI's API to analyze your search queries and find content that matches your mood. Your search queries are sent to OpenAI for processing. No personally identifiable information (name, email, etc.) is included in these requests. AI-generated recommendations may not always be accurate.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share data with the third-party services described above (Firebase, TMDB, OpenAI) as necessary to provide the service.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile page in the app. When you delete your account, all your data (profile, posts, watchlist, follows, achievements, and group memberships) is permanently removed.

8. Children's Privacy

Binge is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), Firebase security rules, and secure authentication tokens. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app.
